Welcome to Still Waters Retreat, Dunnstown Victoria! Located 1.5 hours West of Melbourne's central business district. Conveniently situated so it’s a 20-minute scenic drive to charming towns like Buninyong and Creswick, and just 40 minutes to Daylesford.
We are just 20 minutes east of Ballarat which hosts popular tourist spots like Sovereign Hill, The Ballarat Wildlife Park, the well renowned Ballarat Art Gallery and picturesque Lake Wendouree. It is the perfect place to relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Enjoy your stay surrounded by rolling hills and natural bush land, with an abundance of wildlife, this 300 acre farm has been owned by generations of Grills family since 1940.
The Space
This is a cozy 38 square metre cabin with a 22 square metre outdoor undercover deck. The cabin has a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include a hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers) for you to use.
Built on the principle of being eco friendly, the property is run by off-grid power and sustained with the help of captured rainwater.
Tea, coffee, milk, butter and a small breakfast hamper is also complimentary as are some pantry staples.
Kookaburras, rosellas, kangaroos and cockatoos are the wildlife you will commonly see on the property. Don’t be surprised to see a soaring wedge tailed eagle and possibly even an echidna.

No smoking inside please. Designated smoking area outside
No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
Keep in mind that there are electric fences in operation
Pets are not permitted
There are 2 x TV’s and a DVD player, however there is no wifi.
This is a working farm so you may occasionally see us but on the whole you will have privacy. Please pack warm clothes for the cooler months as it gets chilly here and pack appropriate footwear for walks on the farm in Winter. If you open a gate make sure you close it afterwards. There are signed areas that are off limits to guests due to safety reasons.
Guests are advised to be energy conscious as the accommodation is run on standalone solar.
Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property
Keep in mind that BBQ grills are not available during days of total fire ban
For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the eco sewage system and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
